DURHAM, N.H. (AP) -- Robert Simpson ran for 120 yards and two touchdowns, with Chris Ward adding two more to give New Hampshire a 62-7 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday.
David Ball, who will likely break a Jerry Rice college record of 50 touchdowns receptions this season, recorded three catches for seven yards, but no touchdowns. He is three touchdown receptions shy of Rice's I-AA record.
The Wildcats (2-0) scored touchdowns on each of their first five possessions to build a 35-7 lead by the second quarter and took a 41-7 advantage into half-time.
New Hampshire quarterback Ricky Santos completed 10 of 16 pass attempted for 88 yards. His 6-yard pass play to Evan Loring gave New Hampshire a 13-0 lead, and a 25-yard pass to Aaron Brown extended the advantage to 20-0 in the first quarter. Both Santos and Ball were pulled from the game after the first half.
Stony Brook (0-3) was led by Steve Austin with 10 carries for 67 yards. Josh Dudash was 10-for-17 for 112 yards as the leading passer. Anthony Hamilton scored for the Seawolves on a 10-yard run with 54 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
